ABOUT US
Sauti ya Wanawake Ukerewe (SAWAU is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and women-led Organization based in the Ukerewe district of Tanzania. It was registered on November 25, 2013 under the NGO Act 2002 with Registration number 00NG0/00006676. SAWAU headquarters are in Nansio – Ukerewe, with a sub-office in Nyakato (Kangaye B Maduka 2), Ilemela – Mwanza.
The primary reason for the establishment of SAWAU is to empower women, girls and youth in Tanzania to have a single voice in influencing and advocating on gender equality in the field of economic, environmental, social and political.

Climatic justice and sustainable
use of Natural Resources
SAWAU advocate for increased access to renewable energy sources for women, reducing their reliance on traditional fuels that contribute to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions.

Gender and Social inclusion.
WE CAN CAMPAIGN is a unique, innovative mass campaign and social movement that seeks to end violence against women and men through challenging and changing social attitudes, beliefs and practices that support the violence.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights
SAUTI YA WANAWAKE UKEREWE have been working very closely with institutions that provide reproductive health services such as Marie Stopes and PSI-Tanzania as well as local governments through health departments.

Women's Economic Empowerment
The organization support women's economic empowerment through entrepreneurship training and skills, access to microfinance, and market linkages, enabling them to build resilience and adapt to climate change impacts.
